✦ Synopsis

The reaction of Pt(Me) 2 (cod) (cod = η 2 :η 2 -1,5-cyclooctadiene) with 2 equivalents of PPh 2 (OMe) afforded a bis(phosphinite)platinum complex cis-Pt(Me) 2 {PPh 2 (OMe)} 2 . The reaction of 1 with trifluoromethanesulfonic acid HOTf (OTf -= CF 3 O 2 SO -) and then H 2 O produced a di(aqua)platinum complex cis-[Pt(OH 2 ) 2 {PPh 2 (OMe)} 2 ][OTf] 2 (2 ). New complexes 1 and 2 were fully characterized using NMR measurements and elemental analyses. Furthermore, structures of 1 and 2 were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction studies.
