✦ Synopsis
Synthesis, characterization, and chromatographic evaluation of titanium tetrabutoxide-modified silica as a support for HPLC-RP separations in alkaline mobile phases Gamma radiation was used to immobilize poly(methyloctylsiloxane) (PMOS) onto the surface of silica particles titanized by reaction with titanium tetrabutoxide. The irradiated particles were extracted with CH 2 Cl 2 and subsequently packed into HPLC columns for testing. The PMOS -based stationary phases were tested chromatographically after each of a series of washings with pH 7 and pH 12 MeOH : NaOH (aq) 70 : 30 (v/v) mobile phases. Very slight decreases in column efficiency or retention time and no evidence of support dissolution were observed with either mobile phase.
