## Abstract In this article, the synthesis of κ‐carrageenan‐__g__‐methacrylic acid has been reported by free radical polymerization initiated by Potassium peroxymonosulphate/glycolic acid redox pair under nitrogen atmosphere. The reaction conditions have been optimized by varying the reaction condi
