✦ Synopsis

g (2 mmole) of freshly distilled benzoyl chloride; the mixture was stirred for 4 h at ca. 20~ basified with NaOR solution, and extracted with chloroform.

The extract was dried over magnesium sulfate. After solvent evaporation there was obtained 0.3 g (60%) of yellow crystals, mp 187-189~ (from a mixture of heptane and ethyl acetate).
