Abstract

CuBr and Fe(OOCCH~3~)~2~ react with PhSeSiMe~3~ in acetonitrile in the presence of the diammonium salt [__n__Pr~3~N(CH~2~)~6~N__n__Pr~3~]Br~2~ to yield ionic [__n__Pr~3~N(CH~2~)~6~N__n__Pr~3~][CuFe~3~Br~3~(SePh)~6~]. The neutral complexes [Cu~5~Fe(SePh)~7~(PPh~3~)~4~] and [Cu~4~Fe~3~(SePh)~10~(PPh~3~)~4~] were obtained by similar reactions of different stoichiometric mixtures of CuOOCCH~3~ and FeCl~2~ with PPh~3~ and PhSeSiMe~3~. The crystal structures of the compounds were determined by single‐crystal X‐ray analysis to give new structural types of molecular cluster compounds formed by copper, iron and selenium. Thermal treatment of [Cu~5~Fe(SePh)~7~(PPh~3~)~4~] and [Cu~4~Fe~3~(SePh)~10~(PPh~3~)~4~] resultsin the formation of mixtures of binary Cu~2~Se and ternaryCuFeSe~2~.(© Wiley‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Phase formation in the Cu 3؉1.5x R 4؊x (VO 4 ) 6 (R ‫؍‬ Fe and Cr) systems was studied at 6703C by powder X-ray di4raction. In the Cu 3؉1.5x Fe 4؊x (VO 4 ) 6 system there are two compounds having homogeneity ranges with formula Cu 3؉1.5x Fe 4؊x (VO 4 ) 6 (0.6674 x(0.778) and Cu 3؉1.5x Fe 4؊x (VO 4 )
