## Abstract A general method is described for the synthesis of 1โ€arylโ€2โ€alkylโ€1,4,5,6โ€tetrahydropyrimidines 1, by cyclization of __N__โ€acylโ€__N__โ€ฒโ€aryltrimethylenediamines 2 with trimethylsilyl polyphosphate. Precursors 2 were obtained by aminolysis of the corresponding __N__โ€(3โ€bromopropyl)amides
