AbstractÐThe acetolysis of a tosylate with a novel tricyclic skeleton was examined. Two major products (a tosylate and an acetate) are formed and both are the result of a skeletal rearrangement. A mechanism to account for the observed products is proposed and preliminary kinetic data are reported.
