Copolymers including hydroquinone and vinylpyridine units have been prepared by the copolymerization reaction of quinones with vinylpyridines. By-products of these reactions are the homopolymer and the hydroquinone form of the respective quinone. It has been established that in the formation of the

✦ Synopsis
Copolymers of phenylacetylene (PA) and p-nitrophenylacetylene (pNPA) with various monomers ratios were prepared and characterized. The solubility of copolymers is dependent on the number of PA units in the chain. They show a good degree of stereoregularity and the M W s are in the 10 3 -10 5 a.m.u. range, depending on the monomers and catalyst molar ratios. The soluble samples exhibit film-forming properties and the film-surface morphology may be varied by using different solvents. The copolymers give good electrical response to relative humidity variations.

Phenylacetylenes (PAs) with bulky substituents (adamantyl, tert-butyl, and n-butyl groups) at the para-position polymerized in good yields with Fe, Rh, Mo, and W catalysts. The formed polymers were soluble, and their number-average molecular weights were in the range of thousands to hundred thousand
Polyurethane polymers are a wide class of materials, ranging from surface coatings and adhesives to flexible or rigid foams. However, polyurethanes in general are very flammable and produce heavy smoke when burning. As a result of their flammability, there is a great interest in the development of m
