SP) -9 -Anthryl(1 -menthyloxy)pheny&hosphine-borane and (SP)-(I-l-menthyloxy)benzo[b]phosphole-borane

were synthesized, and their structures were characterized by X-ray crystallographic analysis. The latter compound was reduced by lithium naphthalenide at -78ยฐC with cleavage of the P-0 bond, and the subsequent reaction with electrophiles afforded the corresponding twtiary phosphine-boranes possessing good to excellent enantiomeric excesses.
