16-Membered benzoazo-and benzoazoxycrown ethers have been synthesized by reductive macrocyclization of respective bis(nitrophenoxy)oxaalkanes. The isomers of azocrown ethers were separated and E and Z structures were ascribed. Behavior of the compounds as ionophores in ion-selective membrane electro
