A new niobium oxynitride Nb 2 N 0.88 O 0.12 has been synthesized by reducing Nb 2 O 5 in a stream of H 2 gas containing 0.07% N 2 at 10803C for 5 weeks. The compound crystallizes in a hexagonal system with space group P3 1m, and Z β«Ψβ¬ 3. The lattice parameters are a β«Ψβ¬ 5.2916$0.0001 A s and c β«Ψβ¬ 4
Single crystals of \(\mathrm{Ba}_{3} \mathrm{Nb}_{2} \mathrm{O}_{2} \mathrm{~F}_{12} \cdot 2 \mathrm{H}_{2} \mathrm{O}\) were grown by hydrothermal synthesis in \(\mathrm{HF}\) aqueous solutions. The structure is established from single crystal X-ray diffraction data: S.G. \(C m c 2_{1}, Z=4, a=22.6
