β¦ Synopsis
A new charge transfer salt, [NBu 4 ] 6 H[Fe(C 5 H 5 ) 2 ][PMo 12 O 40 ] 2 , based on Fe(C 5 H 5 ) 2 (ferrocene) and Keggin-type anion [PMo 12 O 40 ] 3K was electrochemically synthesized and its structure was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Monoclinic, C2/c, MZ4068.12, aZ50.383(18) A Λ, bZ14.113(5) A Λ, cZ26.554(10) A Λ, bZ115.3188, VZ17068(11) A Λ3, ZZ6, R1Z0.0759, wR2Z0.1744 (IO2s). The layers of the organic donor and inorganic acceptor in solid state are alternatively arranged in (001) plates and each [Fe(C 5 H 5 ) 2 ] C is surrounded by four Keggin-type anions. There are weak interactions between organic and inorganic layers. ESR spectrum at 110 K displays distinct ferrocenyl cation [Fe(C 5 H 5 ) 2 ] C and Mo 5C signals, the anion [PMo 12 O 40 ] 3K is reduced by one electron. The CV properties of the complex were also discussed.
