Abstract

(Octaethylporphyrinato)cobalt(II), OEPCo (1), reacts with sodium cyanide and undergoes simultaneous oxidation with air oxygen to form sodium dicyano(octaethylporphyrinato)‐cobalt(III), Na[OEPCo(CN)~2~] (2), which is converted into μ‐cyano(octaethylporphyrinato)‐cobalt(III), [OEPCoCN]~n~ (3), in aqueous medium. Compounds 2 and 3 are chatacterized by IR, ^1^H NMR, UV/VIS, TG/DTA and mass spectroscopy. Treatment of the oligomer 3 with pyridine leads to the monomeric complex OEPCoCN(py) (4).
