Attempted preparation of -formyl-functionalized polydienes by termination of poly(butadienyl)lithium and poly(isoprenyl)lithium with 4-morpholinecarboaldehyde resulted in 73 and 38% dimer formation (SEC), respectively, under conditions that quantitativey produced -formyl-functionalized polystyrene.
