Abstract

Viscosity and light scattering studies in conc. H~2~SO~4~ were made on poly(pโ€benzamide) which was synthesized from paraโ€aminobenzoic acid in Nโ€methylโ€2โ€pyrrolidone/pyridine solution in the presence of an aryl phospite. Second virial coefficient decreases as the molecular weight increases while the Zโ€averageโ€meanโ€square radius of gyration increases. The relationship between [ฮท] and M~w~ indicates bending of the molecular chain in solutions as the molecular weight increases.
