Abstract
Nanocrystalline particles of Co^2+^doped lithium aluminate (Co^2+^:LAO) and Ni^2+^βdoped lithium aluminate (Ni^2+^:LAO) were synthesized by solβgel method. The crystalline nature and particle size of the samples were characterized by Xβray diffraction analysis (XRD). The morphology and the presence Co^2+^ and Ni^2+^ in the synthesized samples were analyzed by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy dispersive Xβray analysis (EDAX). The presences of functional groups in the samples were analyzed using FTβIR analysis. The optical absorbance of the synthesized samples were observed using UV absorption spectral analysis. The frequency dependent dielectric behaviour of the synthesized nano materials was analyzed. (Β© 2008 WILEYβVCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)

## Abstract Various kinds of inorganic substances doped with silver ions have been developed as antibacterial materials, and some have already been commercialized. Previously, we successfully prepared colorless silica glass microspheres doped with silver ions in combination with aluminum ions by a
Nanopowders of Y 2 O 3 pure, doped and codoped by Nd 3+ , Yb 3+ were obtained by sol-gel method. Solution with ethylene glycol was choosed as the proper solution where crystallites of powder with Nd and Yb dopants had the same size. Finally the one-phased compounds of Y 2 O 3 doped 0.5 at% Nd and 1,
