✦ Synopsis
Abstract
A series of chroman derivatives were synthesized by employing o‐methyl phenol as a precursor. These compounds were fully characterized using IR, NMR spectroscopic techniques, and elemental analysis. Mechanisms for the formation of the chroman moiety of these compounds were also proposed. MTT (3‐(4,5‐dimethylthiazol‐2‐yl)‐2,5‐diphenyltetrazolium bromide) assay was used to estimate their cytotoxicity toward two cancer cell lines: human ovarian cancer (A2780) and human cervical cancer (Hela). © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
