β¦ Synopsis
A new water-soluble chromogenic reagent, namely 2-(2-thiazolylazo)-5-[(N,N-dicarboxymethyl) amino]benzoic acid (TADCAB), is described in this paper. Its synthesis and spectrophotometric behaviors have been studied thoroughly. Its color reactions with various metal ions were investigated. The acid dissociation constants of the reagent and the stability constants of the complexes of Cu 2+ , Co 2+ , Ni 2+ , V(V), and Pd 2+ were determined. Application of the reagent to spectrophotometric determination of microamounts of palladium in Pt/Pd catalysts was shown.
