Abstract
A new series of 2β(pβtolyloxy)β3β(5β(pyridinβ4βyl)β1,3,4βoxadiazolβ2βyl)quinoline were synthesized from oxidative cyclization of Nβ²β((2β(pβtolyloxy)quinolineβ3βyl)methylene)isonicotinohydrazide in DMSO/I~2~ at reflux condition for 3β4 h. The structures of the new compounds were confirmed by elemental analyses as well as IR, ^1^HβNMR, and mass spectral data. All the synthesized compounds were screened for their antibacterial activities against various bacterial strains. Several of these compounds showed potential antibacterial activity. J.
