✦ Synopsis

Two novel complexes [Zn(phba) 2 (btp)] 2 (1) and [Cd(phba) 2 (btp)(H 2 O)] n (2) have been synthesized by using 1,3-bis(1,2,4-triazol-1yl)propane (btp) and 4-hydroxybenzoate (phba). 1 contains the neutral dimer Zn 2 (btp) 2 metallacycle, while 2 forms the one-dimensional zigzag chain structure. 1 and 2 exhibit blue luminescent emissions at 402 and 394 nm, respectively, excited at 340 nm in the solid state at room temperature.
