β¦ Synopsis
Syntheses of the homologouts compounds inFeO (\mathrm{O}{3}(\mathrm{ZnO}){m}) ( (m=) integer) in the (\mathrm{In}{2} \mathrm{O}{3}-\mathrm{ZnFe}{2} \mathrm{O}{4}-\mathrm{ZnO}) system at (1150-1550^{\circ} \mathrm{C}) are investigated. (\ln \mathrm{FeO}{3}(\mathrm{ZnO}){m}) phases ( (m=1-5) and 7 ) are stable above (1150^{\circ} \mathrm{C}). Single crystals of (\mathrm{lnFeO}{3}(\mathrm{ZnO}){m}(m=1,2,3,7,11,13,15), and 19()) are grown by means of solid state reactions in mixtures of (\mathrm{In}{2} \mathrm{O}{3}, \mathrm{Fe}{2} \mathrm{O}{3}), and (\mathrm{ZnO}) powders, and crystals of (\mathrm{Fe}{2} \mathrm{O}{3}(\mathrm{ZnO}){m}(m=8) and 9 ) are grown from mixtures of (\mathrm{Fe}{2} \mathrm{O}{3}) and (\mathrm{ZnO}) powders at 1500 or (1550^{\circ} \mathrm{C}). The crystal data determined by means of a Weissenberg camera are as follows: (\operatorname{lnFeO} \mathrm{O}{3}(\mathrm{ZnO}): a=3.32 \AA) and (c=26.1 \AA); InFeO (\mathrm{F}{3}(\mathrm{ZnO}){2}: a=3.31 \AA) and (c=22.6 \AA: \ln \mathrm{FeO}{3}(\mathrm{ZnO}){3}: a=3.30 \AA) and (c=41.8 \AA 1 \ln \mathrm{AeO} \mathrm{O}{1}(\mathrm{ZnO}){7}) : (a=3.27 \AA) and (c=73 \AA: \operatorname{InFeO_{3}}(7 \mathrm{nO}){11}: a=3.27 \AA) and (\left.c=104 \AA: \operatorname{InFeO}\right){3}(\mathrm{ZnO}){13}: a=3.27 \AA) and (\left.c=120 \dot{\lambda} ; \ln \mathrm{Fe}(){1}(%)()\right){19}: a=3.27 \dot{X}) and (c=167 \AA); and (\mathrm{Fe}{2} \mathrm{O}{3}(\mathrm{HnO}){9}) : monoclinic crystal system with (a=5.60 \AA, b=68.1 \AA_{1}, r=29.5 \AA . \beta=94.2^{\circ}). and (C 2 / m) spice group. 'The crystal data determined hy mems of a single erystal (X)-ray difficfometer are as fillows: Infer ()({1} 1 / \mathrm{n}(){15}: a=3.267 \lambda \mathrm{amd}) (r=135 \AA) Γ: and (\mathrm{Fe}{2}\left(O{3}(\mathrm{ZnC}){y}:\right.) orthorhombic crystal system with (a=5.5967(4) \dot{A}, b=68.358(7) \hat{A}), (r=53.67(4) \hat{A}). and (C c m m) space group. (\operatorname{InFeO}{3}(\mathrm{ZnO}){m}) belongs to (R \overline{3} m) for (m=) odd or (P 6{3} / m m c) for (m=) even and their lattice constants are given in a hexagonal form. The crystal data for (\mathrm{InFeO}{3}(\mathrm{ZnO}){m}) and (\mathrm{Fe}{2} \mathrm{O}{3}(\mathrm{ZnO})_{m}) are discussed based upon a wurtzite-type crystal structure. O 1993 Academic Press. Inc.
