Analogue
The physiological actions of histamine (1) are mediated by at least two classes of receptors. A short definition of histamine H~1~‐ and H~2~‐receptors is given. Cimetidine (2) is a known specific H~2~‐blocking agent. Compound 3 is a cimetidine analogue with a conformationally restricted side chain. The synthesis of 3 as well as some physicochemical and pharmacological data of 3 are described.
