Synthesis and Cycloadditions of 1,5-Bis(3,5-dioxo-A1-1 ,2,4-triazolin-4-ylmethyl)-2,4-dimethylbenzene

The synthesis and properties of the title compound 3 are described as well as its (4 + 2)-cycloadditions with cyclic dienes and anthracene to give the bis-adducts 4-6. With the bis(9-anthryl-methy1thio)alkanes 7, 8 the macrocyclic phanes 9 and 10 are formed.

Wahrend thermische (4 + 2)-Cycloadditionen mit 1,2,4-Triazolin-3,5-dionen (,,R-TAD) in groBer Zahl beschrieben worden sind 'I, liegen iiber die Bereitschaft von Bis-1,2,4-triazolin-3,5dionen zu Mehrzentren-Cycloadditionsreaktionen noch keine Untersuchungen vor 'I.

Die Darstellung der Titelverbindung 3 erfolgt auf dem fur R-TAD iiblichen Wege 3*4). So gelangt man iiber das Bissemicarbazid 1 glatt zu dem entsprechenden Bisurazol 2; hieraus entsteht 1.5-Bis(3,5-dioxo-A'-l,2,4-triazolin-4-ylmethyl)-2,4-dimethylbenzol (3) durch Oxidation mit N-Bromsuccinimid.
