โฆ Synopsis
A single-mode semiconductor laser with optical injection follows a period-doubling route to chaos, whereas one with delayed optoelectronic feedback follows a quasiperiodic pulsing route to chaotic pulsing. Schemes for synchronization with unidirectional coupling are devised, modeled, and studied for both systems.

We show how a chaotic system can be locked to emit a periodic waveform belonging to its chaotic attractor. We numerically demonstrate our idea in a system composed of a semiconductor laser driven to chaos by optical feedback from an external cavity. The clue is the injection of an appropriate period
This note presents a brief introduction in the field of control of chaos and chaos synchronization. It is argued that both subjects, being very popul~,r among physicists, also deserve to be studied from a control perspective.
