This is the first report of longitudinal sections of synaptonemal complexes in o6mycetous fungi. These indicators of meiosis were observed in antheridial nuclei of Achlya ambisexualis E87. They were attached to a platelike structure at the inner membrane of the nuclear envelope. The lateral elements
