Under the auspices of the International Association for Hydraulic Research (committee on Experimental Techniques) and co-sponsored by the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering, and the Royal Institution of Engineers in the Netherlands

The symposium aims to deepen interdisciplinary interactions between Hydraulics, Soil Mechanics, Applied Mechanics and Design. Topics are, among others, dynamically loaded dams, dykes and structures; also dredging, pile driving and land-slides in marine conditions. Of concern are scale modelling, with particular emphasis on scale effects, measurement techniques and field experiences; also, when experimentally verified, computational results.
