โฆ Synopsis
In descriptions of the anatomy of the sympathetic system it is frequently overlooked that the spinal nerve, as such, is not a structure of any considerable length; rather it divides into its ventral and dorsal primary divisions almost immediately after it has been formed. I n extreme cases the two primary divisions appear to arise independently, each receiving a separate contribution from both the dorsal and ventral, roots. The shortness of the spinal nerve proper is even more striking when viewed microscopically, as we have noted in the present work.
