CONCLUSION
A new measurement method using a specially designed ''random'' positioner has been described. It allows the accurate determination of the maximum gain of electrically small antennas. This will permit a better characterization of antennas used in future miniature communication equipment.

## Abstract Two kinds of groove structure for shortening and broadening the coupling lengths of Ti:diffused LiNbO~3~ directional couplers are presented. The coupling lengths as functions of the depth, width, and spacing of the grooves were numerically calculated. The results show that the maximum s
