## Abstract **BACKGROUND:** Glycerol has become readily available as a byproduct from the biodiesel industry. High functionality and relatively low price make it a potential building block to produce value‐added derivatives such as acrolein. **RESULTS:** Dehydration of glycerol to acrolein was per
