Oscillatory onset of convection is studied numerically for Rivlin-Ericksen, Maxwell and Jeffreys liquids by considering free-free and rigid-free isothermal/adiabatic boundaries. The effect of variable viscosity parameter is shown to destabilize the system. The problem reveals the stabilizing nature
