β¦ Synopsis
The adsorption of para-n-alkylbenzoic acids and para-n-alkylphenols at the water/air interface is discussed and compared with that of para-n-alkylbenzoates and para-n-alkylfenolates on the basis of surface tension measurements. The adsorption process is described by Henry's and Temkin's isotherm equations. The standard free energy of adsorption and its components connected with the hydrophobic part and the polar (charged or uncharged) group were calculated.
