To modify the surface of chitosan powder, grafting of hyperbranched dendritic polyamidoamine, a new class of topological macromolecules, onto the surface was investigated. It was found that hyperbranched dendritic polyamidoamine was propagated from chitosan powder surface by repeating two processes:
