✦ Synopsis

Ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers containing 4, 11, and 19 wt. % of vinyl acetate (VAc), polyethylene, and poly(viny1 acetate) were investigated by the two-liquid contact-angle method a t 20°C. The dispersion force component of surface free energy -y$ increased drastically with the increase of VAc content, and deviated largely from the additivity law in regards of the surface area fractions of ethylene and VAc. On the other hand, the nondispersive ( i t . , mainly due to hydrogen bonding) interaction free energy between solid and water I z w increased linearly with the concentration of VAc on the surface.

Surface photocrosslinking of ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVAc) copolymer films containing benzophenone (BP) was investigated for the purpose of replacing a poly(vinyl chloride) floor. The photogelatin in the EVAc films was effectively observed after UV radiation in the presence of oxygen. The crosslinki

Methyl methacrylate (MMA) was copolymerized with vinyl triethoxy silane (VTES) using 60 Co g-radiation at varying mol fractions of VTES from 0.02 to 0.11. The homopolymers of MMA and VTES were also synthesized by the same method. Homopolymer blends having different VTES mol fractions varying from 0.
