✦ Synopsis

The surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy ( SERS ) of g-aminobutyric acid ( GABA ) adsorbed on silver colloids in H 2 O and D 2 O were recorded and analyzed. When the concentration is greater than 10 03 M , the adsorbed species is the anionic form of the amino acid that interacts with the surface through both functional groups. According to the vibrational interpretation of the spectra, it is assumed that at concentrations in the order of or less than 10 03 M , GABA undergoes chemical transformations, which increase upon dilution, and spectra are recorded that are the result of the competitive adsorption between the amino acid in its anionic form and the products resulting from the chemical transformations.

The adsorption characteristics of phthalic acid on a silver surface were investigated by means of surfaceenhanced Raman scattering (SERS). For a reliable analysis of the SER spectrum, we also performed an ab initio vibrational wavenumber calculation. The SER spectral features dictated that the phtha

## Abstract The vibration ν(SH) has never been observed in the surface‐enhanced Raman scattering of mercaptoacetic acid recorded in a wide range of pH. This behavior enables us to deduce that the SH group is deprotonated and links to the metal forming an AgS bond as 1‐alkanethiols do. On the cont

## Abstract In this work, Raman spectroscopy (RS) was employed to characterize molecular structures of [Arg^8^]vasopressin (AVP) and its [Acc^2^,D‐Arg^8^]AVP, [Acc^3^]AVP, and [Cpa^1^, Acc^3^]AVP analogues. The RS band assignments have been proposed. To determine the mechanism of adsorption of the
