cooled MCT detector (Magna 550 IR, Nicolet). Spectra were obtained with a specular reflectance accessory (Spectra-Tech Inc.) using p-polarized light incident on the samples at 85 with respect to normal. All spectra were taken as the average of 1024 scans and referenced against an unmodified gold film. The spectra of the monolayers were collected with 2 cm ±1 and 4 cm ±1 resolution for the plated gold and the colloidal gold surfaces, respectively.
