Abstract

Dans la condensation du p‐cymène et des alcools amylique ou butylique tertiaires sous l'action d'acide sulfurique concentré, il est obtenu par une réaction de transfert d'hydrogène, non pas un p‐cy‐mène alcoylé correspondant, mais des indanes alcoylés parmi lesquels un tétraméthyl‐1,3,3,6‐p‐tolyl‐1‐indane.

The reaction of anthracene anions with methyl iodide, ethyl bromide, isopropyl bromide and tert.‐butyl bromide has been investigated. 9,10‐Dihydroanthracene derivatives and 1,2‐dihydroanthracene derivatives have been identified and isolated among the reaction products. The spontaneous degradation of
