✦ Synopsis
Single-shot time-domain coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) can now be used for temperature and velocity measurements in low-pressure supersonic flows. In this paper, the range of operation of the technique is specified. Both rotational and vibrational CARS are considered. In addition, the dependence of the anti-Stokes response on the laser pulse properties is discussed. We also report experiments carried out in a Mach 10 laminar flow.
