## Abstract Aluminum sheets were furnished with a waterโ€repellent composite layer consisting of microroughened alumina, chitosan (CHS), and poly[octadeceneโ€__alt__โ€(maleic anhydride)] (POMA). CHS was electrochemically deposited or spinโ€coated. In a subsequent reaction step, POMA was covalently bond
