We report studies on a new iron based LiFeP superconductor. The compound takes the same structure to LiFeAs containing a ''FeP" conduction layer. Superconductivity was achieved up to 6 K. The new superconductor is featured with itinerant behavior at normal state.

✦ Synopsis
a b s t r a c t ''1 1 1"-type iron arsenide compounds AFeAs (A = Li, Na) were synthesized. These compounds crystallize into Cu 2 Sb type tetragonal layered structure with space group P4/nmm and show superconductivity with the transition temperature $18 K for LiFeAs and $23 K for NaFeAs. The effect of pressure on LiFeAs sample was studied. It was found that the Tc decreased almost linearly with increasing pressure and the pressure derivative dT c /dP was about À1.38 K/GPa.
