β¦ Synopsis
M ΒΌ Mg, Be ** ) Total DOS N(E F ) is the sum of orbital DOS N l (E F ) in MT spheres. ences in the nature of covalent bonds. The main bonds for MgB 2 are formed mainly due to strong B-B interactions (in honeycomb layers of boron atoms) . For Be 2 B, all three types of bonds B-B, B-Be, and Be-Be are comparable (in terms of orbital overlap populations ). The ultimate conclusion as to the possibility of superconductivity in the beryllium semi-boride calls for the calculations of its phonon spectrum and evaluation of the electron-phonon coupling constant l. Such computations are currently under way.
