✦ Synopsis
The specific heat and electrical resistance of (La~ xCe~)Pd2Ge2 compounds were measured. LaPd2Ge 2 is a superconductor with T c = 1.24 K. The superconductivity is quenched by the substitution of La by Ce of 10%. CePd2Ge 2 shows antiferromagnetic order at 5.2 K. The sample #1 of CePd2Ge 2 shows a large magnetoresistance and has an extremely large y value at low temperatures. Though y shows a strong sample dependence, CePd2Ge 2 seems to be a new heavy-fermion compound.

A series of measurements of the structural, electrical, magnetic, and thermal properties are presented for the (Y ,\_zPrX)Ba,Cu,O,~y system. Orthorhombic samples for 0 -< x =Z 1.0 were prepared for all the experiments performed.
We present results of inelastic neutron-scattering on polycrystalline samples of the heavy-fermion compound UBe~3 and for ThBe13 as a reference system. We analyze these data on the basis of a Born-von-Kfirmfin model. Our results give clear evidence for the existence of an Einstein-mode-like oscillat
