โฆ Synopsis
European operations contributing 30% and the Australian business contributing 16%. The company runs four chloride-route TiO 2 pigment plants -at Kwinana (Australia), Botlek (Netherlands), Hamilton and Savannah (US) -with a combined capacity of 448,000 tonnes/y at the end of 2002. It also runs two sulfateroute plants -at Uerdingen (Germany) and Savannah (US) -with a combined capacity of 159,000 tonnes/y. All the chloride plants, with the exception of Kwinana, are currently being expanded, providing an additional 54,000 tonnes/y of pigment capacity. This will consolidate Kerr-McGee's position as the world's third largest supplier of TiO 2 pigments.
In its latest Annual Report, Kerr-McGee reasserted its intention to become the world's second largest TiO 2 pigment producer. Currently, that position is held by Millennium Chemical, with a global capacity of 690,000 tonnes/y.
