Rebecca is the estimable chef of Bar Harbor Brasserie, which she owns with the love of her life, Fred. One night, as the governor of Maine dines at one of their tables, a heinous snowstorm pushes Fred's car off the roadβ and Rebecca suddenly finds herself a widowed mother of three.
As Rebecca reels from the death of her husband, a ghost from her past emerges to remind her of all she lost so many years ago. Her father, Victor Sutton, is a family therapist who has helped numerous struggling families get through dark times.
Rebecca isn't keen to forgive him though, and Victor doesn't ask for it. He does explain, however, that Rebecca's mother, Esme, recently lost her second husband to a heart attack. She's alone in Nantucket and she needs help.
