โœฆ Synopsis

Standard fast Fourier transform algorithms are not applicable to point process data as they assume regularly sampled data. To circumvent this problem, one may either use techniques which do not have this restriction or convert the point process into a regularly sampled form. Specific methods for both of these approaches are developed with comparisons of accuracy and efficiency. Criteria for choosing an algorithm based on the data type are given as a conclusion.

We examine parallel-processing applications to the analysis of large data sets typically used in social science research. Our research uses a parallel environment which makes it possible to have 1024 processors working simultaneously on a problem. The application is tested using various codgurations
