โฆ Synopsis
A t the outset of the engineering design process, at least the most important goals have to be formulated as technical requirements. The clarification of these requirements, therefore, is of great importance to the further process and its outcome.
The starting point for the engineering design process is the assignment. In practice, the clarity of design problem formulations varies. Sometimes designers are provided with precise problem formulations (e.g. if they come from the company's own product planning department or if the client has very specific ideas). Sometimes they are confronted with rather incomplete formulations (e.g. in case of problems with new, difficult conditions or when the customer provides a non-technical specification). 1 Fricke, G Empirical investigation of successful approaches when dealing with differently precised design problems.
