Over a period of three years we have seen nine patients with subtalar dislocation, all of w h o m sustained violent t r a u m a to the region of the ankle and hind foot. All but one patient were males. Clinically a subtalar dislocation resembles a complicated fracture dislocation of the ankle but a definitive diagnosis can only be m a d e radiographically. The mechanism of injury and r a d i o g r a p h i c features of this injury are discussed.
