Abstract

A novel feeding structure using substrate integrated waveguide technique for double side printed dipole antenna is presented in this article, which isolates the RF front‐end from the antenna effectively in an integrative radio access unit of distributed wireless communication systems. An array antenna with eight double side printed dipoles is designed and fabricated. The return losses and radiation patterns of the antenna element and the array antenna are measured, and the results are in good agreement with the simulated results. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
