โฆ Synopsis
Pb 2 V 3 O 9 is a quasi-one-dimensional spin-gapped Mott insulator and exhibits a magnetic field-induced antiferromagnetic ordering together with the Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC) of triplons. In order to study impurity effects on BEC of triplons, we synthesized Srsubstituted samples for Pb sites. We found that the two types of samples suffered by different heat treatments at 600 and 650 C show different magnetic properties. From the temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility, we observed the reduction of a spin-gap and the impurity-induced antiferromagnetic ordering for 600 C series and 650 C series, respectively. Since Pb 2 V 3 O 9 has two crystallographic Pb sites, it might be due to the fact that the Sr occupation sites can be changed by the heat treatment.
