The present investigation sought to examine the importance of substance P in the altered respiratory activity after neonatal capsaicin administration. Halothaneanesthetized adult rats given capsaicin neonatally exhibit a decreased basal minute ventilation with PaC02 equal to and PaOz greater than ve
