✦ Synopsis
The pure rotational spectrum ofthe a 'A SO radical in the vibrational states of u up to 5 has been observed in the submillimeterwave region of 300 to 400 GHz. The SO radical was produced by the excimer laser photolysis of Cl,SO at 193 nm, and its absorption signal was detected by a transient digitizer followed by a computer for signal processing. The present method is discussed as a means of studying short-lived molecules.
